Our Story

The story of Pedia-Pak began in 2001, when I made a decision to adopt my daughter, Olivia, from China.

The process of adopting a child from China requires you as a parent to go to China and get your baby. We have all seen the pictures of many baby girls lying in cribs without diapers, not enough food to eat and less than adequate medical care. China is a very interesting place, but definitely a world apart — especially when it comes to things like traditional western medicine. I feared being so far from home and not having something I needed to care for Olivia. I am also a nurse, so I probably got myself a little more worked up thinking of all the things that could happen!

The process of adopting also includes a pretty long waiting period, so like a good mom, I got in the "nesting" mode of trying to get things done before Olivia was to come home. One of the items on my list was to find a first aid kit. I looked everywhere, but I couldn't find any complete and easy to carry first aid kits that were designed just for kids.

So, I enlisted the help of a leading pediatrician to put together my own first aid kit. Since I didn't know exactly how old Olivia would be, we tried to make the kit suitable for a child of any age. The result was the Pedia-Pak.

What a great idea!!! Not only was this a great idea for traveling across the world (it fit perfectly in my diaper bag), but I have found the Pedia-Pak to be useful for everyday use here at home. I keep a Pedia-Pak both at home and in the car. The one thing that is certain with kids is you never know when something is going to happen to them!

Many of my friends who have children have Pedia-Paks, and they have told me so many times how useful it is. I hope you get a Pedia-Pak and don't have to use it very often. However, there is great peace of mind knowing you have what you need.

Thank you for visiting our web site. I hope you find the information about Pedia-Pak to be useful and informative. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email at bjhilles@pediapak.com.

P.S. — A portion of all profits from Pedia-Pak will benefit other children from China who are still in the orphanages. We are so blessed. Olivia continues to be a happy and healthy child. We would love to be able to help others who are less fortunate than us.
